L’aventure a commencé en 1997 lorsque quelques fonctionnaires de la Commission européenne décident d’organiser la première édition d’un tournoi de football inter-DG, appelé depuis 2000, le « Schuman Trophy ». Ce défi sportif a toujours été associé à un geste de solidarité en faveur d’enfants démunis ou défavorisés en Europe et dans le reste du monde.
Le Schuman Trophy, tout en renforçant l’esprit sportif et convivial entre les membres du personnel de la Commission Européenne, fait don de tous ses bénéfices à des organisations caritatives œuvrant pour l’enfance défavorisée en Belgique et à travers le monde
Depuis le début de cette initiative, le comité organisateur du Schuman Trophy a distribué plus de 860 000 euros de contributions pour cofinancer plus de 300 micro-projets d’associations caritatives œuvrant pour l’enfance défavorisée en Europe et dans le reste du monde.
The adventure began in 1997 when a few officials from the European Commission decided to organise the first edition of an inter-DG football tournament, known since 2000 as the « Schuman Trophy ». This sporting challenge has always been associated with a gesture of solidarity in favour of deprived or underprivileged children in Europe and the rest of the world.
The Schuman Trophy, as well as reinforcing the spirit of sportsmanship and conviviality between members of the staff of the European Commission, donates all its profits to charities working for disadvantaged children in Belgium and throughout the world.
Since the beginning of this initiative, the Schuman Trophy organising committee has distributed more than 860,000 euros in contributions to co-finance more than 300 micro-projects by charities working for disadvantaged children in Europe and the rest of the world.
