The call for projects launched in June 2022 was a great success, with more than 80 applications registered.
The evaluation process of these projects therefore took more time than usual and it was only in February that the list of 21 selected projects was established.
The Gala was held on Tuesday 21 March 2023 at the EEAS headquarters in the presence of 11 representatives of the associations whose projects had been selected, some members of the teams and the trade union organisations.
Before handing over the cheques to the associations, Gianmarco Di Vita, President of the Schuman Trophy Committee and Jean-Marie Remy, a young retiree, thanked the colleagues from the European Institutions, the sponsors, the volunteers and the members of the committee for their commitment and for the fantastic financial result obtained after two years of absence due to the pandemic.
They reaffirmed the charitable objectives of the Schuman Trophy which go far beyond the sporting event organised each year and thanked all those associations whose work had been dramatically disrupted due to the health crisis.
Unfortunately, the energy and time spent on the evaluation process, the professional and family workload of the volunteers making up the committee and a necessary restructuring of the committee will not allow the Schuman Trophy to be organised this year.
However, the Committee will be back even more motivated and committed for the 2024 edition.
